UW Medicine Phase 3.2 Reaches the Top

On Friday, October 6, the project team at UW Medicine’s South Lake Union Phase 3.2 project celebrated the official topping out. Though the concrete structure didn’t require a ceremonial steel beam to mark the event, that didn’t stop the team from celebrating the occasion with a speech and catered BBQ lunch.

Construction on the 168,000-square-foot facility began in March and is scheduled to complete in July 2018. The new building will integrate UW Medicines’ retina clinic, diabetes institute, urgent care and neighborhood clinic. This combination of office space, research labs and outpatient clinics is a first for UW Medicine.

The project marks the third collaboration for Sellen, UW Medicine and Perkins+Will over the last decade on the same biotech campus. Congratulations to the team on achieving this major milestone!
