Sellen Signs The Climate Pledge

We are proud to announce that Sellen has officially joined The Climate Pledge, an initiative co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism that seeks to unite organizations worldwide in the fight against climate change. The Climate Pledge is a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, and because the built environment accounts for nearly half of global carbon emissions, we believe it is imperative for builders to play a key role in achieving that target.

Sellen’s purpose is to improve the lives of those around us – as builders, partners, and neighbors. Carbon emissions from Sellen’s job sites in the Pacific Northwest impact people around the world, and our choices – in partnership with our clients, architects, and subcontractors – can make a meaningful difference. Joining The Climate Pledge is an extension of Sellen’s commitment to the well-being of the global community, and we will continue to work alongside our partners to reduce the carbon emissions required to construct and operate the spaces we build.

As a leader in sustainable construction practices, we work diligently to minimize our impact on the environment and build spaces that preserve and regenerate our region’s natural resources for future generations.

We will share our road map for a carbon neutral future in the next edition of Sellen’s annual Sustainability Report, scheduled for release in Q2 2024. Our inaugural Sustainability Report was released earlier this year and includes data from our first-ever company carbon footprint analysis. The report also includes a full breakdown of the Contractor’s Commitment, a construction industry framework for measuring and reporting sustainability performance.
