Sellen Delivers Third Building at UW Medicine South Lake Union
In September 2018, Sellen completed work on Phase 3.2 of UW Medicine’s South Lake Union campus. The project marked the third building on campus built by Sellen and designed by architect Perkins+Will.
The new eight-story medical research building includes a retina clinic, a diabetes research lab, clinic space, exam rooms, a skybridge and a green roof. A feature wall designed to represent a tree gracefully weaves up through the first three floors of the building. Levels four through seven include a diabetes and HIV research space, as well as a microbiology lab. All told, more than 10 research groups will call the new space home, with additional space available for future growth.
The finished building includes a beautiful skybridge between the 3.2 building and its predecessor and neighbor, the 3.1 building. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to the project and helped create a space where life-saving research can be done each and every day!
