Sellen Collaborates with Vulcan, AGC to Build Tiny Homes

In May 2018, a crew of Sellen volunteers joined several local contractors and Vulcan employees at the CenturyLink Events Center to build 30 tiny homes for the homeless in one day. The Vulcan Employee Day of Service brought together several community partners to address Seattle’s growing challenges around homelessness. Vulcan partnered with the City of Seattle, the Associated General Contractors of Washington and the Low Income Housing Institute on the project.

Each 96-square-foot tiny house includes heating and insulation, windows, locking doors and electricity. The homes will be installed in a tiny house village in downtown Seattle, where residents will have access to shared kitchen, laundry and restroom facilities, and a counseling center.

More than 400 Vulcan employees were supervised by Sellen and other local contractors. Sellen’s team helped build three of the homes. Thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to help those in our community!
