Saskia Brown: Tradeswoman of the Year
The Washington Women in Trades organization recently awarded Saskia Brown as 2016’s “Tradeswoman of the Year.” The carpenter foreman received this annual award in recognition for her passion and dedication to her craft and her respectful leadership among coworkers. This is only one of many awards Saskia has received that observes her commitment and talent in the trades.
Saskia has been with Sellen for more than six years and has worked on many high-profile projects. She actively mentors many carpenters who are just beginning their careers and is also a devoted member of our community. Saskia has met with women at Purdy Women’s Correctional Facility, speaking with them about potential career paths in the trades. She also regularly volunteers with Rebuilding Together and assists in building Tiny Houses for the homeless. From installing doors and hardware, to casework and forming concrete, Saskia truly is a tradesperson who can perform and produce at a high level regardless of the task.
