Breaking Ground on Seattle Children’s Hospital: Building Care

In December 2018, Seattle Children’s Hospital celebrated the start of the new Building Care project with a groundbreaking ceremony. Sellen and designer ZGF Architects joined Children’s staff and patients to mark the start of work on the project. Sarah Harper, mother of 10-year-old Eddie who came to Seattle Children’s Hospital for a heart transplant, spoke at the event and shared her excitement to see work on the new addition begin. Children’s, ZGF and Sellen previously worked together on the Friends of Costco Building (formerly known as Building Hope).

Upon completion in 2022, the new, 310,000-square-foot Building Care project will include lab space, operating rooms, a pharmacy, patient rooms and space for the Cancer and Blood Disorders Center.
