Project Engineering Careers

Sellen's commitment to promoting from within our own ranks wherever possible is why your career development is important to us. We are looking to offer you more than a career, we're looking to build future leaders. In fact, between 85 and 90% of our current project managers and executives began their careers with Sellen in entry level / engineering positions and some began as interns.

At Sellen you'll find a strong career development program with emphasis on training and continuing education. As a new engineer you'll be assigned a mentor, who will work with you to help you chart your individual development. You'll participate in the monthly Engineer's Roundtable, a peer focus group that meets to share on-the-job experiences, discuss pertinent issue, brainstorm solutions, and have a little fun.

You'll follow a defined career path. Field engineers begin by working under other experienced engineers, and graduate to project engineering positions with responsibility for running smaller projects. Or you may work in conjunction with other engineers on a large project, where you'll have primary responsibility for a major component of the work. Next, as a senior project engineer, you'll manage the work of other engineers on a larger project. Later, as a field manager, you'll work onsite learning project management responsibilities. At this point some field managers who find they prefer the field side opt to continue on as a project superintendent. Others pursue project manager roles. Or you may find that you've developed a penchant for smaller-scale work, so our Special Projects Division may be your destination. Regardless of the path you take, here at Sellen you'll find a strong support network, a responsive performance review process, and team players who will work to help you attain your personal career goals.
